Singer/songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist Johnny Martinez is a Chicago-based recording artist hailed for his captivating live performance and musical style. Johnny is a powerhouse of entertainment as an unforgettable frontman revered for his soulful voice and playing.

Born in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, Johnny’s musical beginnings started at the age of 5 with the local prestigious Boy’s Choir of San Juan. Immediately following, he picked up guitar in addition to other instruments that can be heard on his current productions. He grew up under the early music tutelage of his Father Hector Martinez, a renowned musician, Salsa trumpet player, and backup singer throughout the island who regularly performed with the most notable acts of the time such as Tommy Olivencia among others. From him, Johnny learned music theory, vocals, and guitar which he then used to pursue his musical aspirations. As a result, he saw successes through his family’s mainland move to Miami Florida, where he made a name for himself on the US scene performing with multiple bands in addition to writing and producing alongside Grammy award-winning songwriters and producers such as, but not limited to, the great Richie Supa (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, The Rascals) and Pablo De La Loza (Shakira, Enrique Iglesias) who helped develop Johnny’s artistry inside and outside the studio. What resulted is a musical explosion of genres such as R&B, Pop, Funk, Soul and Rock, thus securing his signature sound.

Johnny’s expansive career heights as a musician and artist have led to special key performances for super Pop celebrity Sir Paul McCartney’s end of world tour celebration and with singer/songwriter and multi Grammy award-winning Donato Poveda’s critically acclaimed live show “Tropikalia” at Magic City Casino in Miami to extensive studio work as a songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer for artists such as Pepe Alva, Raw B Jae & The Liquid Funk, Nicole Chirino, AJ & The Stick People, Mia X and multi Grammy award-winning Latin Pop artist, Lissette Alvarez among others. Alongside Universal Publishing Johnny recorded promotional material for Latin Pop sensations Cheyenne (Menudo) and Ricky Martin under industry icon Ivan Alvarez.

His distinct writing style placed his original Neo-soul song “Life” in the urban film “Colorz of Rage” by Rhesteghini Films and his jingles on network TV and commercial radio for brands such as KFC, AT&T, MTV Latino (TS3 with Paul Rodriguez), Pantene and showcased others to Heineken, Kraft among others.

An engine of musical talent Johnny has shared the stage performing with Grammy award-winning superstars such as Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Juan Luis Guerra, was the featured opening act for Cher, Ja Rule, Cheap Trick, R&B singer Jaheim, and has toured nationally with Grammy award-winning reggae group Inner Circle and internationally with Calton Coffee (former lead singer for Inner Circle).

Johnny can be heard performing live throughout the US as well as abroad and is set to release a highly-anticipated arsenal of music.
